Volunteer Opportunities

During our Light Up A Life season, Hospice SLO County hosts eight remembrance ceremonies throughout San Luis Obispo county and there are many opportunities to get involved.

During November, volunteers may assist us with compiling the list of names for each ceremony. Creating this master list is the most important part of Light Up A Life, as it is used to create the precious remembrance books for each ceremony. To assist in November, volunteers should be comfortable entering data in a basic Excel spreadsheet.

We are also in need of volunteers to assist staff at the Remembrance Ceremonies in December. Your warm and caring presence will set the tone for the remembrance ceremony, as you greet guests, pass out candles, and help us with light set-up. Please view the ceremony schedule below.

Sunday, December 2, 4 p.m. at Shore Cliff Hotel, Pismo Beach (outdoors)
Monday, December 3, 5 p.m. at Kaleidoscope Inn, Nipomo (outdoors)
Tuesday, December 4, 6 p.m. at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa (indoors)
Wednesday, December 5, 6 p.m. at Coalesce Bookstore, Morro Bay (indoors)
Thursday, December 6, 6 p.m. at Heritage Square Park, Arroyo Grande (outdoors)
Thursday, December 6, 6 p.m. at Pavilion on the Lake, Atascadero (indoors)
Friday, December 7, 6 p.m. at City Park Gazebo, Paso Robles (outdoors)
Monday, December 10, 6 p.m. at Hospice SLO County, “Paws to Remember” Pet Peace of Mind Ceremony (indoors)

If you have volunteered at our ceremonies before, there are Lead Ceremony Volunteer positions available for those with prior experience.
