Tips for Coping with Loss

  • Surround yourself with as much love and understanding as you can.

  • Find caring people to talk with, as it is helpful just to voice your thoughts and feelings.

  • Allow yourself to express your grief and talk about the person who has died.

  • Let yourself cry.

  • Be gentle with yourself about any anger or pain you may be experiencing.

  • Expect to tire easily. Grieving is hard work.

  • Give yourself private time.

  • Don’t be hesitant to ask for help and support in the days and months ahead.

  • Take care of yourself by getting enough rest, eating well, and by doing things you like to do.
